Snow & Winter Operations

PrairieHQ includes specialized capabilities for winter service contractors managing commercial snow plowing, sidewalk clearing, de-icing, and anti-icing operations.

Winter Operational Model

Snow removal operations differ fundamentally from summer maintenance:

  • Event-Driven: Dispatches are triggered by snowfall depth, freezing rain, or storm forecasts rather than fixed weekly calendars.
  • Contract Tiers:
    • Per-Push / Per-Event: Billed per clearing event based on accumulated depth brackets (e.g., 2–4 inches, 4–8 inches).
    • Per-Application: Salt, brine, or calcium chloride billed per pound, ton, or flat application rate.
    • Seasonal Fixed: Flat monthly fee covering unlimited events up to contract caps.
    • Time & Materials: Hourly equipment and operator rates.

The Snow Removal Log

Access the log under Workbook → Snow Removal Log:

  • Field operators record exact equipment utilized (truck plow, skid steer, loader, salter).
  • Log weather conditions at arrival: temperature, snowfall accumulation, pavement condition (wet, packed snow, ice).
  • Record materials dispersed (bags/pounds of salt or ice melt).
  • Upload site condition photos (entryways cleared, parking bays plowed, handicap ramps salted).

Liability & Slip-and-Fall Documentation

Accurate record-keeping is critical for risk mitigation:

  • Every snow log entry captures immutable GPS coordinates and precise timestamps upon arrival and departure.
  • Generates detailed, audit-ready site visit certificates to protect your company and property owners in the event of insurance claims or slip-and-fall litigation.
